Former Deputy Mayor Speaks to New York Young Republican Club

Rudy Washington, former Deputy Mayor for Community Development and Business Services, will be the featured speaker at the New York Young Republican Club, Inc.'s next general meeting, on February 21st, 7:00 P.M at the Women's National Republican Club (3 West 51st Street).

Rudy Giuiliani once said that Washington "was instrumental in developing and administering business initiatives that helped turn New York City's economy around." From 1996, when Giuliani appointed him Deputy Mayor, until 2001, Washington oversaw the departments of Business Services, Parks and Recreation, Consumer Affairs, and Employment; the Gambling Control Commission, the Community Assistance Unit, the Commission on Human Rights, the Commission on the Status of Women, the Mayor's Voluntary Action Center, the Mayor's Action Center, the Office of Veterans' Affairs, and the Commission for the United Nations, the Consular Corps, and Protocol.
