THE NEW YORK YOUNG REPUBLICAN CLUB, INC. DENOUNCES VIOLENCE AGAINST REPUBLICANS, CALLS FOR SENATOR KERRY TO CONDEMN VIOLENT PROTESTS:

New York Young Republican Club, Inc. is outraged at the latest wave of violence directed at supporters of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. The past week has seen some despicable acts committed against Republicans: an unknown attacker firing shots into a Bush/Cheney volunteer office in Tennessee, the theft of a pair of laptops containing campaign-related materials from a Republican campaign headquarters in Seattle, and a pair of incidents Tuesday in which protestors stormed into and ransacked campaign offices in Milwaukee and Orlando. These protestors damaged private property and scuffled with volunteers.

While the New York Young Republican Club obviously celebrates free speech for Democrats and for all Americans, this hostility is atrocious. This campaign season has seen many Democrats wrapping themselves in the flag of pacifism, yet at the same time some members of the opposing political party are victimizing Republican volunteers. While it has unfortunately become commonplace for some members of the media and the entertainment community do their best to unfairly besmirch the reputations of President Bush and the Republican Party, these recent incidents are very troubling -- meant to intimidate potential voters and volunteers alike. Esmeralda Heuilar, a protestor and member of the AFL-CIO, said proudly after the Orlando incident, “We want to send a clear message to Bush.”

The New York Young Republican Club, Inc. calls on Senator John Kerry and Senator John Edwards to condemn these intimidation tactics immediately. While it may be too late for these Democratic groups to exhibit ideological tolerance, at the very least they must stop this aggression

The New York Young Republican Club, Inc. is a not-for-profit political organization that exists to bring Republicans aged 18-40 together to discuss the Republican Party platform and aid the Republican Party in the education of the public about the Republican agenda and the promotion of Republican candidates for office.
