LINDA CHAVEZ TO ADDRESS NEW YORK YOUNG REPUBLICANS THURSDAY, JUNE 17TH
The New York Young Republican Club welcomes acclaimed conservative columnist, author and public servant, Linda Chavez, to their June 17th meeting. Chavez will discuss her new book, “Betrayal: How Union Bosses Shake Down Their Members and Corrupt American Politics.”
Chavez has had years of experience dedicated to research and history focusing on politics and the role of Hispanics from a conservative point of view. Her work has been published in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Commentary, The New Republic, and Reader's Digest. Along with her publishing credits, Chavez also regularly appears as a television commentator on such shows as "CNN & Co.," "The McLaughlin Group," "Equal Time," "The Newshour with Jim Lehrer," and is a political analyst for FOX News Channel.
Along with her extensive commentary biography, Chavez has also held numerous political positions including, director of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (1983-1985), White House director of public liaison (1986) and she served as U.S. expert on the United Nations Subcommission on Human Rights from 1992 to 1996. Currently, Chavez is president of the Center for Equal Opportunity, based in Washington, D.C. She also sits on the boards of directors for a number of non-profit organizations and corporations. This event is free to the public and will be held at the Women’s National Republican Club, 3 West 51st Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues at 7p.m.The New York Young Republican Club, Inc. is a not-for-profit political organization that exists to bring Republicans aged 18-40 together to discuss the Republican Party platform and aid the Republican Party in the education of the public about the Republican agenda and the promotion of Republican candidates for office.
