THE NEW YORK YOUNG REPUBLICAN CLUB, INC. SUPPORTS SENATE CONFIRMATION OF JUDGE SAMUEL ALITO

New York, NY - The New York Young Republican Club, Inc. (NYYRC) supports Senate confirmation of Judge Alito and calls on New York Senators Schumer and Clinton to allow a speedy and fair hearing.

After several days of hearings, Judge Alito has shown himself as a fair judge who strictly adheres to constitutional law. NYYRC President Dennis Cariello remarked: "Judge Alito has been straight forward in his responses to the most critical questions and has shown why the American Bar Association gave him their highest rating æ 'well qualified.' He is sure to be a credit to the Supreme Court."

Though Judge Alito likely has enough votes for confirmation, Democrats still may delay a vote and have not yet ruled out a filibuster. The New York Young Republican Club calls on Senator Clinton and Senator Schumer to proceed without delay and encourage their colleagues to allow Judge Alito the vote he deserves.

Cariello commented: "I strongly urge the Senate - especially New York's Senior Senator, Charles Schumer, who displayed a bias against Alito even before the hearings began - to confirm this fine, mainstream judge without further delay or political maneuvering."
